Although it was created to be used both on paved and dirt roads, it ended up becoming one of the most popular dirt bikes in Brazil.

History
The DT model line was launched in Brazil in 1981 to replace the TT 125, which, although designed for mixed-use, already aimed to serve those more interested in off-road use. However, this model still had certain limitations. Some of them were supplied by the DT 180, such as a taller exhaust (avoiding water and dirt entry), a more efficient rear suspension (mono-shock), and, of course, more power. After the launch of several versions of the DT 180 (eg DT 180L, DT 180N, DT 180Z), the last model in the line was the DT 200, which was one of the last 2-stroke motorcycles in Brazil, around the year 2000.
Mechanics
The model features a one-cylinder, 2-stroke engine with 176.4 cc, and is fueled by a carburetor. The maximum power and maximum torque are 16.6 hp at 7,000 rpm and 1.74 kgf.m at 6,500 rpm respectively. It can be considered a relatively light motorcycle (102 Kg). The DT 180 N model still features both front and rear canvas brakes and the disc brake was only added in 1988 on the DT 180 Z.
At the garage
A DT 180 cc (year 1985) arrived to be reformed in the workshop. See its disassembly (part 1), reassembly (part 2), and how it looked after the makeover in the Mechaniclapse videos.
